Year 4
Welcome to Year 4
Children in Year 4 continue their Key Stage 2 journey through a wide range of exciting learning opportunities. Throughout the year, they explore fascinating topics including Ancient Egypt, the Water Cycle, the Amazon Rainforest and the Anglo-Saxons, helping them develop their knowledge, understanding and curiosity about the world around them.
Alongside building on their reading, writing and maths skills, Year 4 pupils prepare for the Multiplication Tables Check, which takes place during the summer term. Regular practice throughout the year helps children develop confidence, fluency and recall of their times tables. Please see below for more information about the Multiplication Tables Check.
Learning extends beyond the classroom through a variety of engaging experiences and educational visits, including a trip to Headingley Water Works. Photographs and updates from these activities will be added to the gallery throughout the year.
We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning, discovery and achievement in Year 4!
4 Hirst
Hirst Class is named after Damien Hirst, one of Britain's most famous contemporary artists. Originally from Leeds, Hirst studied art in London and became a leading figure in the Young British Artists movement during the 1990s. He is known for working across a range of artistic mediums, including sculpture, painting and drawing. His work, displayed in galleries around the world, often challenges people to think differently about art and creativity. We are inspired by his imagination, creativity and willingness to push boundaries.
In Hirst Class, our teacher is Miss Gerus. The children are also supported by Mrs Sharp, Mrs Sagoo, Mr Major and Mrs Kelly (HLTA).
4 Waddington
Waddington Class is named after John Waddington, one of the founders of Waddingtons Ltd. Originally based in Leeds, the company grew to become one of the country's largest producers of board games, playing cards and printed products. Waddingtons produced many popular games for the UK market, including Monopoly and Cluedo, bringing fun and learning to generations of families. The success of the company reflects Leeds' proud history of innovation and enterprise, inspiring us to try new things, embrace challenges and explore new opportunities.
In Waddington Class, our teacher is Miss Leena. The children are also supported by Mrs Sharp, Mrs Sagoo, Mr Major and Mrs Kelly (HLTA).
